Gossip Girl is all about relationships and friendships. The main cast all have their best friends and then of course there is the fab four as I like to call them or better known as The Non-Judging Breakfast Club. Now the The Non-Judging Breakfast Club is made up of two pairs of best friends. Serena and Blair and Nate and Chuck. I'm going to focus on the Nate and Chuck friendship.
Nate and Chuck have known each other since basically the beginning of time and have always been best friends. This is very clear in season 1. In the first few episodes you hardly ever seen Nate and Chuck apart. Nate is the jelly to Chuck's peanut butter. You can clearly see their relationship is very close especially for guys. The imitate details they reveal are usually only reveal in friendships between girls. Nate is always spending the night with Chuck in his suite. My guess would be he wants to escape his parent's expectations and pressure. Chuck's suite is Nate's safe haven. Nate even has his own key. I do believe these too would do anything for the other one. Chuck saved Nate from Carter when he was way over his head and even sold his beloved club to help Nate's family out with their financial issues. Nate stopped Chuck from kicking Dan's ass before the brunch. Nate knew how mad Bart would have been if Chuck had got into a fight right before the brunch and wanted to save Chuck from Bart's disappointment. Chuck cares about three things and Nate is one of them. Not only that Chuck is the only one that is able to get away with calling Nate his full name. In my opinion Chuck is Nate's real family. When his father got arrested he didn't want to stick around for his parents. He had promised Chuck he would be at the opening and if he had his way he would have been there. When things got tough with Nate and Blair Nate always ran to Chuck. Let face it if they were gay they would be a great couple. Now I'm not suggestions that they should be because we all know Chuck belongs with Blair.
In season 1 they did fight but they made up at the end of the season. In season 2 their friendship haven't been on the best of terms, but let's face it what relationship is perfect and peachy all the time? Friendships is just like relationships. They are good and bad times. CN is just going through a rough patch at the moment. Let's all keep faith and have hope. Because we all know that these two will always be best friends, and when the other is need no matter how mad they are at each other they will always be there for each other.
I love this post. I think the writers did not handle Nate's and Chuck's friendship very well in last season. Even if they wanted to play on love triangle between Chuck, Nate, and Blair they should have exposed something meaningful about Chuck and Nate's friendship..but instead they just did a stupid love triangle, which had no meaning, and which noone cared about.
